The City of Casey, in partnership with the State Government of Victoria, has completed community safety projects at four locations across Casey worth more than $440,000.<\/p>\n
The projects at Camms Road Shopping Centre in Cranbourne, Buchanan Park in Berwick, Charles Green Reserve in Endeavour Hills and Casey RACE and Casey Stadium in Cranbourne East were managed by the City of Casey and funded by the Victorian Government\u2019s Community Crime Prevention Program.<\/p>\n
City of Casey Mayor Cr Amanda Stapledon said this is a fantastic example of the Council working with the State Government and residents to achieve great things for our community.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019d like to acknowledge the valuable input of Victoria Police who undertook safety audits before the projects started, to help pinpoint safety risks and make recommendations on how to improve them,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019d also like to thank shop owners, their employees and residents who also played a big part in contributing to the projects by sharing their knowledge of the local area and main safety concerns.<\/p>\n
All four projects have made a fantastic difference to the look and feel of the area, while also enhancing accessibility and the safety of our community.\u201d<\/p>\n
Mayfield Ward Councillor Gary Rowe, also highlighted that the planning of the project utilised Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) principles.<\/p>\n
\u201cCPTED is based on the principle of incorporating design and effective use of a built environment to reduce the fear and incidence of crime,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m happy to say that we have already received positive feedback about the works undertaken and I am sure that will continue.\u201d<\/p>\n
The project at Camms Road Shopping Centre included the installation of a new footpath and kerb, upgrades to seating, improved signage, new tactile makers for vision-impaired users, new fencing, new bike racks, landscaping and the replacement of rubbish bins.<\/p>\n
New solar-powered lights were installed in Buchanan Park, Charles Green Reserve, and Casey Stadium to increase night-time safety and deter anti-social behaviour. Additional Bollards were also installed at Casey Stadium and Casey RACE to minimise the risk of driving-related incidents.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
