TAC L2P Learner Driver Mentor Program of the City of Casey celebrates its 10th anniversary of being in service for learners age between 16 and 21. Representatives from government, business, and public join Casey Mayor Councilor Susan Serey at Bunjil Place for the celebration.<\/p>\n
The program aims to help learners who are less fortunate to have access to a vehicle or supervising drivers to gain the experience needed to have a probationary licence. L2P program in Casey started with 25 learner drivers and a few but committed volunteers, and one car which was also a donation from Berwick Mazda.<\/p>\n
L2p Program in Casey is considered to be the biggest in the state having 55 learner place. \u201cThis has supported over 300 learners, including 10 enhanced learner places for young people with higher needs,\u201d she said, \u201cAnd the program has successfully helped 137 learners to attain their probationary license.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have had a total 102 mentors participate in the program over the past 10 years. Together, these amazing volunteers have freely given more than 17,000 driving hours of their time to help young people get their licence, which in turn helps these young people to seize work and study opportunities that they may not otherwise have had access to.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
